Presentation of a book on relations between Brazil and the USSR took place at RSUH.

On February 27, RSUH hosted a presentation of a book by Brazilian diplomat, historian and political scientist Bruno Quadros e Quadros entitled “Relations between Brazil and the USSR in 1964–1985: between ideology and pragmatism”.

The event was opened and the First Vice-Rector Pavlenko, who delivered a welcoming speech.

Bruno Quadros and Quadros, describing his work, said:

“This publication, in my opinion, is a worthy contribution to the popularization of the history of Russian-Brazilian relations and a huge step towards improving scientific and political understanding between our countries. My task is to increase knowledge about Russia in Brazil and vice versa”.

The work by the Brazilian scholar is a textbook that examines the complex relationship between the USSR and Brazil in the period from 1964 to 1985. The book is of particular interest being the first in-depth study of the phenomenon of cooperation between two ideological antagonists who found a reasonable balance between ideology and pragmatism during the Cold War.
