On April 22, the Faculty of History celebrated its fourth birthday. The Chamber Orchestra of the Academy of Russian Music performed several pieces, conducted by Ivan Nikiforchin.
Dr. Elena Barysheva, Dean of the Faculty of History, wished everyone a good evening and expressed the hope that such events would become a good tradition of the Faculty.
Dr. Pavel Alipov, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of History, spoke of the importance of introducing young people to classical musical works.
Ivan Nikiforchin, Director of the Orchestra, said that performing at the University was a very valuable and joyful occasion for the ensemble.
This time the orchestra presented more serious compositions than those performed in the fall. Both Dr. Alipov and Mr. Nikiforchin spoke about the sophistication of the program, which included the works by Galynin, Shostakovich and Abdokov.
